Support Make A Wish® This Holiday With A Fun, New Tradition!

November 13, 2018

This isn’t sponsored, just wanted to shout out two amazing brands doing amazing things in our local community!

Did you know there’s an easy way to support the amazing work of Make A Wish® in your community FOR FREE this holiday season?  As you may recall we went to Disney back in February, and were blessed by the opportunity to learn more about the incredible work of Make A Wish®.  Living here in Oregon and plugging into the community we’ve had the chance to see their mission lived out on a local level, and it has been so inspiring and encouraging.

Recently, I was alerted to an incredible partnership between Macy’s and Make A Wish® and I knew I had to draw up a quick blog post for you guys to keep you in the loop about this.  (As it is very simple, cheap, fun, and makes a major impact!)  What isn’t to love about that?  This campaign, called the Believe campaign, and here is how it it works:

“For 11 years, Macy’s Believe campaign has defined the season of giving. Here’s how it works: Macy’s will donate $1 – up to $1 million – to Make-A-Wish for every letter to Santa they receive from Nov. 2 – Dec. 24, whether dropped into Macy’s signature red mailboxes in retail stores around the country or submitted online at macys.com/believe.”

I’m calling on you all to help us support this amazing program that has since 2003 contributed 112 million dollars to support Make A Wish® that is over 13,000 wishes granted to critically ill children! With an impact spanning over 2.6 million people!  (including wish kids and their families, volunteers, community groups, nurses, doctors, and more!!)
We made a fun afternoon out of this by making our lists at our local Macy’s and dropping them into the red mailbox for delivery straight to the North Pole!  I used this as a teachable moment for my boys to discuss why it’s so important to be intentional with our resources and make space to give back during the holidays.  Now, I’m calling on you!  My loyal audience to grab some lists for your own family and join me in supporting this organization that does so many incredible things.  Here’s a wonderful quote from Kaitlyn Bolduc, Public Relations and Communications Manager for Make-A-Wish® Oregon.

“For 11 years, it has been the partnership between Macy’s and Make-A-Wish through the Believe campaign that has represented great traditions of the holiday season: charity, kindness and hope. We welcome Portland families to support the Macy’s Believe campaign by adding letter writing to Santa to their holiday traditions, as every letter received helps raise donations for Make-A-Wish to grant more wishes. It’s fun, easy and it gets everyone involved in making the holidays a little brighter for children with critical illnesses and their families.”

    1. That’s a great idea to do with your kids! Mine are almost 8 and I’m trying to come up with ideas all the time to teach them the importance of helping others, giving back, and otherwise not thinking about themselves all the time. I’m definitely going to be doing this with them this season. Thanks for the idea!

    1. I’ve seen the boxes before but didn’t pay attention or know they were related to Make a Wish at all!

    1. I had no idea these boxes even existed. Thanks for this information. What a great idea!

    1. Like others, I’ve seen these boxes around, but I didn’t know what they were for. Thanks for sharing about this great cause!

    1. Make a wish is such an incredible cause! Giving back during the holidays is so important and I love that you’ve taught that to your kids at a young age!
