Sharing My Thoughts On The Memory Maker at Walt Disney World!

September 23, 2019

Disclosure: At Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, we were gifted a complimentary one day memory maker to experience. All opinions expressed are my own!

I love photography, it is a true treat to me to spend time thoughtfully snapping photos of my family’s adventures. I love reliving the experience after the fact while I cull, edit, and even plan out the ones I’ll print. Most of my house is decorated in photos as our family mission is really to collect memories, not stuff. With that in mind, I had never considered paying the extra money to get a memory maker. However, at our last Disney Media event we were gifted one, so I wanted to really wanted to research it and see if it’s something I’d recommend to others.

Spoiler alert- I really loved it. I don’t think it’s something to do every single time you visit. (unless you have an AP and this is provided automatically!) but it was a wonderful way to actually be in photos. So, how it works is that anytime you do a photo with a Disney photographer, they’ll scan your app or magic band. With the memory maker, you have unlimited downloads of those images! Additionally, on select rides you can take advantage of the videos they create! So, after your trip you can share photos with friends, print, whatever. I think it’s a great thing to spend a little money on if you’re planning a once in a lifetime WDW experience! (and you guys know I’m cheap and RARELY encourage extra spending!)

Budget Tip: I’ve also heard that active duty military and their families can purchase a day memory maker photo pass on site for a discount. If you’re active duty, definitely check further into that!

I was a little nervous about the length of lines, but found they move pretty quickly. (+You can use the app to see where photographers are located!) We didn’t go out of our way for many photo opportunities, but would try to hop in line if we passed one.

Don’t forget to look for animated photography spots, too! The boys couldn’t get enough of these. I’d say their favorite was when the photographer placed a giant dole whip in between them. They laughed about it forever.

In addition to magical photo opportunities throughout the parks, Disney also has some special opps for holidays like Halloween and Christmas! Which is why I think it would be a perfect thing to do if you’re visiting as a family over the holidays.

Lastly, I wanted to recommend this a unique gift idea if you’ve got a close family or friend who will be visiting the area.
