My friend Ellen from Young Love Mommy generously invited me to be her date to an event with Royal Building Products, a sponsor of the 2019 Southern Living House in the Crane Island development in Amelia Island, located about an hour north of Jacksonville. I was so excited, I’ve been a Southern Living magazine subscriber for years now. I love the classic, coastal look I’d seen in last month’s magazine and couldn’t wait to see it in real life and get inspired for my own home.
It was a real treat to get a tour from the actual builder– Riverside, learning how they brought this house to life in just under six months was really impressive. In addition to finding unique ways to tie the signature design of the area, and learn how they are giving back to the Amelia Island Museum of History.
As you make way through each room, collecting inspiration you can actually find details (paint colors included!) on a plague on a nearby wall. I loved the paint colors they choose in each room, they were all very peaceful. To find the exact colors, visit the resource guide!
The view from the deck and porch was breathtaking, so it’s probably no surprise my favorite area were the outdoor spaces. Like this adorable swing.
The Zuri® Premium Decking was astounding! They incorporated some unique patterns that really amplified its beauty. I will absolutely be getting some of this in the future if we ever build a deck! Check them out on social media, because they share some incredible ideas of fun projects!
I absolutely loved this bed swing they had on their upstairs deck! I definitely want to eventually get one of these for my own house, can you imagine how many books I could read out there!?
Speaking of books, my absolute favorite part of this house and how they designed it was the really beautiful way they added things that demanded you to sit down and just be with your family. Books were strategically placed, games, and resting spots. Kids were obviously welcomed in this multigenerational living inspired home. In the upstairs family space, games were built into the tables and the walls were lined with more games.
The dogs had their own faucet to fill their dog bowls! Each member of the family is considered, and I loved that. Of all the elements, I’ll add to my house after visiting that warm and cozy invitation to sit a spell is the one I hope to incorporate the most.
The house just begs you to put your phone down and savor time on the porch with your friends and family. Or to eat a savory, family style, dinner at this round table and watch the sunset. If you get a chance to isit this place in real life, it is so worth it! I left feeling so inspired, and I can’t wait to add some of these touches to my own home!
PS- We learned that starting November 12th, the house will be decorated for the Holidays!
