Can you guys believe that before we moved here, we had never been to Jacksonville, Florida. We just knew an amazing opportunity awaited us, we love being near the fish, and the boys were eager to live where fishing would be easy accessible.
We’re still sightseeing and exploring, Jacksonville is huge. In fact, I’ve heard its the largest city by land miles in America.
We’re still learning the city ourselves, and though we’ve fallen in love with this Southern coastal city, we still have so much to explore. Which is why I feel confident recommending it to you guys as a travel destination. Especially since I recently learned that in the month of November many local attractions offer free admission to kids throughout the month. I’ll be the first to tell you that Jacksonville already offers so many free and affordable attractions that this is just icing on the cake.
You can always visit the beach for free, check out the parks, and the area water ways. Through the month of November, here are some of the freebies I’ve seen so far!
Jacksonville Zoo- For every paid adult general admission, receive 5 kids free!
Main Event- Kids receive a 15 minute play card! I plan to do this on a Tuesday night, when kids eat free for every 8.99 spent. If you haven’t joined yet, sign up for their email list and also get 30 minutes of free play. (Call ahead to see if these can be combined!)
Icemen Hockey– For every one adult ticket purchased you’ll get one free kids ticket. I’ve been wanting to attend one of these with my sons, so I’m really excited for this!
Catty Shack Wildlife Sanctuary- My boys have been wanting to check this place out since we moved, so we put it on our weekend calendar for this month. (Up to 5 free admission per paid adult.)
iFly- When adults buy a 2 flight package, kids (3-12) receive two free flights. We are absolutely going to do this one! The boys have been asking to try it since we passed it over the summer, but it just hasn’t been possible in our budget. With the boys doing it for free, we can make it happen!
Sweet Pete’s is offering kids a free candy kabob from 4:00-6:30 pm on Tuesdays- Saturdays of November. We haven’t been for a tour yet, so I think I’ll try to do the tour and let the boys get a candy kabob.
Another deal I’m so excited about is Kayak Amelia. Kids under 12 get free rentals with each adult, so we are hoping to find time to use our state park passes to visit the Talbots Island State Park area and kayak.
I had to be realistic about what we could do this month with respect to school, football, and life. So, I picked a few that we have been really hoping to find good deals for. Be sure to head over to Visit Jacksonville‘s website to explore all the places participating!
(and find the fine print.)
PS: Be sure to check out some of the great kids eat free spots too. Bread & Board offers complimentary kids meal when you purchase an adult meal. Some Moe’s locations in Jacksonville offer kids eat free on Tuesday nights.
