Host A Watch Party For: “To All The Boys. PS: I still love you.”

February 3, 2020

I have been looking forward to this movie since last year when I first saw a tweet about the sequel coming to Netflix! I adored the movie, and ended up going and getting the book series the day after I watched it. Of course, it is a beautiful and wholesome and funny love story.

It was my favorite rom com of 2018! I wasn’t sure if I would like it, to be honest, because I knew the book was YA. However, I genuinely adored it and devoured the books shortly after. I, like most people who watched the movie, also developed a huge crush on Noah Centineo. (Whom I’ve been rooting for since he played Jesus on The Fosters, another show I highly recommend.)
As you can imagine, this movie hit close to home for me. In the FILM, Lara Jean has a white dad and a Korean mama. I haven’t seen that represented much on screen. It was a little emotional for me to think that someday my boys can watch this movie with their girlfriend, and see their story reflected on screen. I loved the Korean touches sprinkled throughout, and since the preview to the new film opens with them in Hanbok, eating together. I think we will see that! I’ve told you guys before, there’s a major lack of Asian/Asian-American representation in media.

So, the fact this movie was so good and sweet and got a sequel, I was so proud! It means a lot to me as a mother to know my boys will grow up seeing more Asian faces in media and I hope that trend continues.

I’m really looking forward to the sequel, and wanted to get some friends to watch it at my house. I decided to turn it into a quick blog post in case anyone else is half as excited as me! I’m really looking forward to this, I love romantic comedies and the first one was so sweet and heart warming. If you haven’t read the books yet, definitely put them on hold at the library!

Since love letters play a huge part in the movie’s plot, can I suggest grabbing these adorable note cards (with envelopes) to give to each of your guests. I found these affirmation ones in the Target dollar spot, I love them for a buck, I think they’d add a sweet touch to your party.

In lieu of name tags, how about you give everyone a tag with something you love about them on it?

One thing we learned from the original: If your man doesn’t surprise with your favorite drink you don’t need him. Serve your guests some of these Yakult drinks! My boys take one in their lunch about every day, we are big fans around here.

If you’re going to serve a meal, I’d suggest keeping it simple with a slumber party vibe and serve pizza!

OR serve a Korean meal like Bulgogi!

Grab your favorite comfy pajamas, a scrunchy (I saw Sephora has a gift set from the movie!) and invite your girlfriends over to watch together!

If you’re of drinking age, pour yourself some sparkling pink wine, pop some popcorn and get into the February spirit of romance! Also, I had to share these things I recently found at Trader Joe’s and Aldi that would be so cute to have for dessert!
