Now that I have two young children, giving back during the holiday season has never been more crucial to me. I find it is especially important to make sure they understand their countless blessings, and teach them how to give back. My husband was in the military for almost ten years, we’ve made friends across the
country world. During that time, we were educated on how many military families are struggling financially. Since then, we’ve adopted a military family to give Christmas gifts too, every year. My oldest son is four now, and he is so much more aware of the concept of giving back. We had a lot of fun picking out new toys for a needy family, and explaining what a difference this will make in their holiday season.
This year while I was being to consider hosting holiday parties, I had the idea of adopting several families. Some were military and some were just local under resourced families. Everyone brought gifts for the families! We were able to grab everything we needed at Walmart, where you can stock up on Scotch® Brand wrapping products early and save, with packages that have a 50% bonus and Walmart’s Rollback pricing.
I arranged tables for wrapping with wrapping purchased last year during the after holidays clearance, scissors, and both Scotch® Magic™ Tape 3 Pack Caddie & Scotch® Gift Wrap Tape 3 Pack Caddie. I also thought it was important to have a couple munchies out for my wrappers! I made popcorn from a microwave bag. (Parties don’t have to be overly complicated, seriously!)
I made a spinach artichoke dip in the crockpot. Very easy to do! I threw two 14 ounces artichoke cans, a brick of cream cheese, 10 ounces of fresh spinach, and three tablespoons of plain Greek yogurt. I cooked it on low for three hours and then served with pita chips, tortilla chips, and fresh bread.
This party was a huge success! We got to socialize and do some good for our community and military families! It was a really special party. We had an assembly line going, using our Scotch® Magic™ Tape, we were able to Wrap.Give.Repeat for a great holiday season!
I love that, because we used Scotch® Magic™ Tape, we were able to do double good. Scotch® Brand is donating $200,000 to Fisher House this holiday season. Fisher House is a charity that provides a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. When I learned this, I knew I had to exclusively purchase Scotch® brand products. If you’d like to make a donation to the Fisher House, you can donate here. It is an amazing organization I’ve followed for years, and they provide such a beautiful service to our nation’s military families.
I thought it would be fun to share how I wrap Christmas gifts for my pre-readers! I have a two and four year old, they love the idea of a gift but can’t read their names so I like to add photos.
I like to start by taping the jagged edge with my fabulous Scotch® Magic™ Tape.
After I pull the other side over and secure with my favorite transparent tape.
After that, I fold the ends into a triangle and secure with tape! I like to do a very basic gift wrapping and use photos as a special detail. Once I’ve wrapped the gift, I like to attach a photo of which child it is. This makes it possible for the kids to identify which gifts belong to them. Plus, under the tree- they look fabulous and so fun. I secure the photo with Scotch® Magic™ Tape! It is such a simple task that provides an amazing result.
