Moving is such a hard thing to do, building community in a new community is so stressful. I’ll be vulnerable here and say it can be really easy to just hang out at home and just withdraw. This is most likely our forever home, so even though it’s tricky to put yourself out there and start to build a community. I know it’s something I need to do. (especially given that I’m an extrovert!)

I think so much of making friends really requires to be a friend to ourselves first. It’s like those quote about loving yourself before you can love others, there have been seasons when I have so found that to be true. We have sort of always lived in transitional places, years of the military and then graduate school — there has been a whole lot of transitions and changes. It is both exhilarating and sad, because saying goodbye is always hard. (no matter what age you are!)

For me, I’ve been really working to up my self-care routine. I will admit, when I think self- care I don’t really think of things like chocolate or movie nights, I think of literally caring for one’s self. That means (to me!) even when you’re exhausted and a shower feels luxurious, you take the shower. You wash your face, you brush your teeth with a nice toothpaste! For me, that’s Colgate TotalSF Advanced Whitening Toothpaste. (Yes, Colgate TotalSF has a NEW Breakthrough Formula!) I love the Colgate motto: “Everyone Deserves a Future they can Smile About.” How many of us need to have that repeated to us? It can be so hard to keep that in perspective in the midst of tantrums and skipped naps, that these days are long but the years are short.

I have been a coffee drinker for years, so I’m a bit insecure about the discoloration of my teeth. I’m a shy smiler, if you will. Beyond the whitening support, I love that Colgate TotalSF  offers benefits for your whole mouth. (Sensitivity, Enamel, Breath, Whitens, Tartar, Cavities, Plaque, Gingivitis!) For me, I’m thankful to find a product that helps with all three: sensitivity, enamel and breath! I have VERY sensitive teeth, so to finally find something that will protect me from all these things is just unheard of and amazing. This is another amazing product you can just grab from Walmart, don’t forget to take advantage of their drive up service. GAME CHANGER. I like to pick up right before I drop Sawyer off for school, drop him off, then come home and unload. I feel so productive! Order some for yourself, and take advantage of this amazing cash back offer from Ibotta!

      1. LOL reminds me of the movie Elf “Smiling is my favorite!” You do it well!

    1. Everyone ‘deserves’ a future they can smile about really strikes me as a perspective that is difficult to have. I thinker’s hard as a mother to focus on your own future because you are always working on your kids future! Thanks for the redirection!
