Cardinal Stage Company presents “Elephant & Piggie.”

May 10, 2016

I just wanted to pop by and tell you about our experience at Cardinal Stage Company’s Elephant and Piggie performance.  We had the pleasure of going on opening day, after my post on getting ready to go see the performance, we were given complimentary tickets in exchange for an honest review.  Liam & I genuinely loved it.  Liam is a HUGE Gerald and Piggie fan, we’ve read every book except for the newest and actually plan to PURCHASE it today.  Yes, you read that correctly I’m going to buy a new book for my children.  This was my first cardinal stage performance, and definitely Liam’s too.  This particular show was intended for guests three and older, and it was absolutely wonderful for the preschool crew.  It was an hour long, so just the right amount of time.  The songs were so fun, catchy, and engaging.  We got a kick out of recognizing references to our favorite Gerald and Piggie books.  The one thing that caught me off guard was that the performers were not dressed as the characters, but instead were humans just in pink and grey.  I think this was a hard thing to explain to a three year old, so if you’re taking a younger child you could preface the performance.  I was very impressed with the actors, the five person cast was so cute and excited to be there.  Their energy was palpable!  I fell even more in love with these characters and their special friendship by the end of the one hour performance.  This is their last weekend so if you haven’t been to see it yet, I encourage you to check it out!  It was really lovely!
