How to plan a less stressful week…

I have found that parenting, homemaking, and life in general is easier and more fun when we have a schedule in place for the week. Now, you don't have to plan every detail of every day. You don't have to be type A.  You don't need to wear yourself out crafting schedules and plans, but I encourage you to make an outline for your week.  Here are some of my tips for making your week less stressful, more efficient, and…

Birthday freebie list..

Summer is our birthday time, my poor husband is the only person in our family of four with a winter birthday. His birthday is basically Christmas, so he misses out on a lot of the goods. My birthday is in June, Sawyer is July, and Liam is late August. Usually I'm treated to all kinds of lovely things; last year my husband went to Jacobs the jeweller for my gifts, I was very lucky! We have had to cope with…

How things are progressing around here..

Week 2: We have been here just over two weeks, but it feels like it has been so much longer. This place is really beginning to feel like home.  We are about 93% unpacked, and while we have a little furniture shopping to do.  Our home feels like home!  There is something about getting the family photos on the wall that makes it feel more quaint, intimate, and like our place.  We've been focused on organizing, unpacking, and  placing things where…

umm.. excuse me, but these years are short.

This summer Sawyer will turn three: he is a potty trained, swimming, hilarious, contrary little boy.  He stretches my patience, gives the best hugs, and just makes me proud every day.  At the end of the summer, Liam will turn five.  He is a friendly, emphatic, a master build, occasionally wild.  That means in sixteen months, I'll have a child who could attend kindergarten.  The following summer, I would have a second child eligible for kindergarten.  That means they would…

A recap of my amazing weekend at the Bloom getaway!

Disclaimer: I was given a free ticket to attend the event.  All opinions expressed are my own! This weekend, yes- our first weekend here in Portland, Oregon, I had the opportunity to attend the Bloom weekend getaway.  I went into it with a very relaxed attitude, wanting to just have a little time for myself after the last few months leading up to the move.  I just wanted to do something for myself for a little while.  Don't get me…

Our road trip across the country + Our first week in Oregon!

The last three weeks have been such a whirlwind for our little family.  My husband graduated from graduate school on Friday the third, the moving truck came on the following Monday and we left for Portland, Oregon on Tuesday morning.  Our journey took us Kansas City, Cheyenne, Boise, and then Portland last Sunday.  We have officially lived here for a week, and it has really been wonderful so far. Our movers arrived on Monday, which was nice.  I was not…

Graduation, packing, cross travel oh my! An intense update.

Our last week has been such a blur, filled with goodbyes, packing, a little chaos, and a lot of love.  We have been here for five years, brought both of our children home from the hospital to this house, and filled every nook and cranny with memories.  This town has such a special place in my heart, and up until this week I've felt excited about the move.  This week the sadness caught up to me, my emotions were in…
