Mom’s Weekend Away to St.Joseph, Michigan!!

I basically had the most amazing weekend!  Thursday night, my friends watched my boys so I could go to sushi and drinks with my doting husband. It was so wonderful!  Friday, I had my mom's group and then I left for mom's weekend away with two of my dearest, dearest friends.  Fellow graduate school wives, one of the ladies had an apartment in St. Joe, Michigan from her husband's internship.  (You read that correctly.  free lodging.) The drive was only…

Create a football party “selfie station” with SNICKERS®

Disclosure: This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, MARS. All opinions are mine alone. #ScoreAtCVS #CollectiveBias   I've said it before, and I'll say it with glee.  We love football and hosting parties in this house, and I welcome any opportunity to combine those two joys are mine.  When hosting football parties (or any party for that matter!) I love to create photo booths or "selfie stations" for my guests.  I think these are so…

Be inspired by the new book, One Mom Can Change The World.

I had the profound honor to read a book written by two women I really admire, Amy Lanham and Claudia Mitchell.  These women were introduced to me at my weekly mom's group, these wise brilliant women with their abounding grace.  What role models!  When Amy mentioned she was writing, I knew it would be amazing.  Claudia already has a book, and while I haven't read it, everything she touches becomes gold.  Words pour out of Claudia like something from a…

Building The Village

Last night during bible study, we got into a discussion about our villages.  How blessed we feel to have met one another and formed a village there and at our local mom's group.  How lucky we are for the village members whom we picked up off the street, and just in general how happy we are for women who make us better.  I love my husband, he is my authentic best friend.  He's the person who has seen me at my…

Bringing the Mess of Motherhood to the Mainstream with FX’s Better Things!

My people.  Are you ready for a show that depicts motherhood for the emotionally and physically draining (but incredibly amazing/rewarding/fun experience.) it actually is?  Well, it is finally here.  Better Things is the new show by Louis CK and Pamela Adlon about motherhood and the authentic struggles and abounding joy that comes along with it. Sam (the main character) is honestly all of us.  She is tired, but she would do anything for three daughters.  She feels unappreciated, she wishes…

When the sun is setting on a season…

This has been an exciting week!  Opportunities for my family and wonderful opportunities for my friends and their families are surfacing.  Several of my friends moved away over the summer and several are preparing to move within the year.  It is such an exciting and nerve-wrecking time.  The community we've built here, is evolving.  Life is happening.  The sun is setting on our time here, the memories we've made, and soon we will only social media and annual reunions to keep us in…

Preschool Activities!

I'm talking about things to do with your preschool age kids to keep them busy.  I like to keep my kids busy so they don't argue all day.  I like to leave a lot of their open for playing, but I try to keep more structured activities on deck, too. I try to have something ready for them in the mornings or else they'll just whine and cry to watch television.  The activity above is a crowd favorite.  Just craft…

Sawyer’s Little Bedroom!

Soy Bean has a strangely small bedroom.  Or Liam has a huge bedroom... I'm still trying to figure that part out.  I love this little bedroom though.  It is the bedroom I've snuggled both of my sweet boys in, I guess it is my family's nursery.  It is pretty bare these days since Sawyer has been in a toddler bed since he was about fourteen months old.  His bed was a hand me down pottery barn bed from his Godmother. …

Liam’s dinosaur bedroom!

One homemaking revolution I've experienced this past year is a desire to create a beautiful home, even if we are simply renting.  It is strange to believe we are moving in less than ten months, but that doesn't mean I can't love my home during that time.  This leaves me with some interesting home design diameters.  I don't want to paint, everything needs to be affordable(or free or cheap.), and everything should be portable.  Easily transported to our new home! When…
