Adventures in parenting + having a three year old!

July 13, 2017

We have almost been here two months, its funny.  It seems like we’ve been here much longer.  I have close friends, an amazing gym, and we’ve been exploring the city to our heart’s desire.  I love to explore new cities, discovering new gems or visiting local favorites.  Also, I’m a local now.  I thought you guys might enjoy hearing what we’ve been up to lately!

Liam went to vacation bible school at a local church.  I can’t say enough amazing things about the summer camp and vbs offerings here, he’s attending one this week that is totally free!  It is only three days long, and tomorrow is their water day.  He had such an amazing time at the last one he went to, and was given a t-shirt, a cd, and a week of half day camp for 40.00.  I mean, that is amazing.  It has been really helpful for him too.  He’s adjusting to a new time zone and making new friends, so schedule and opportunities to meet people is really special.  Meanwhile, I’m really valuing my time with Sawyer during the few mornings Liam is out and about.

We’ve hit the gym almost everyday since we moved here, I love the childcare here.  I have been taking full advantage of the free class offerings.  I try to “schedule” myself for one class per day.  I like to make appointments with myself, because I know I won’t break those.  I have also rewarded myself with a couple child free hours reading by the pool.  Like Fifth Harmony would say, “baby, I’m worth it.”

For the most part, we spend our days in our neighborhood.   It really is idyllic for me, the moms sitting on curbs watching their kids play.  I haven’t been this happy in a long time.  I love feeling secure.  I like routine.  I thrive with routine.  Maybe its summer, maybe its my new environment, but I feel so much less pressure and stress in my life.  I feel truly content.

Maybe its the ages of my kids, now three and almost five.  They are helpful and hilarious.  Naps are behind us, so we can do adventurous things  and not pack diapers or schedule accordingly for naps.  Sawyer turning three was incredibly bitter sweet for me.  The last year was really challenging for me, I battled a lot emotionally in a sleep deprived state.  I was barely surviving, much less thriving.  Three is a new year, I’m a smarter and more patient mother.   I also feel like our home is way more functional than our previous home.  It is amazing how that give you so much more peace!

There’s my midweek update, I wanted to take a second to let you know that I’ve got some incredibly fun and exciting things coming to the blog in the next few weeks and months.  I also wanted to encourage you to follow me over on all my social media channels.   I’m always sharing great deals, random tips and hacks, awesome products and fun photos.
