I have two young children, and I know how tricky it can be to squeeze in a few peaceful moments as a mom. For me, I feel guilty every time I sit down to enjoy a couple of moments to myself. The truth is, I NEED it. I’ve learned in my four years as a mother if I don’t make it a point to spend about thirty minutes every day doing something that fills up my soul being a mom wears me out. Within my friend circle, I feel like this is kind of a trend. We joke it is like putting on your oxygen mask before helping someone else. This morning I’m talking about self-care and how to make relaxing easy, achievable, and part of your everyday.
I’m a morning relaxer. I like to get up before my kids, savor a cup of coffee and read my book. To do this with optimal success you’ll need two things:
Item number one- A FLUFFY ROBE. You have to have a fluffy robe. It’s like a blanket you wear! It keeps you warm, but your arms are free to hold your book in one hand and your mug of coffee in the other.
Item number two- A hot cup of coffee made with new a Starbucks® Caffè Latte K-Cup® Pods Friends, these are incredible. Made from milk, with no artificial flavors, they come in three flavors: (Caramel, Mocha, and Vanilla) with two seasonal flavors I am so eager to try (Pumpkin Spice with REAL pumpkin and Peppermint Mocha!) The best part of this delicious treat is that you can make it in two simple steps!
First you add your flavor packet!
Step 2 is to brew the Starbucks® Caffe Blend K-Cup® pod in your Keurig® brewer and stir to savor your crafted at home drink!
Now, comes a tricky part. Finding the most comfortable spot in your house for savoring this delicious drink! I prefer my couch, and I like to pull my curtains up so I can attempt to watch the sunrise. Relaxing looks different for everyone, definitely. Some people prefer to sleep in but love to hit the gym. Others would rather up stay up late watching a favorite show. All I want to advocate for is taking the time to do something that brings you joy. For me, this always involves a cup of coffee. I’m so excited to bring these Starbucks® inspired flavors to my house.
Set aside at least 15 minutes to do something you enjoy. Yoga, writing, reading, watching a favorite show! Fill your cup just like your favorite coffee mug!
Keep a running list of things you’re thankful for. I heard this a lot before I actually put it into practice. Who has time for that, I kept thinking! Turns out it really does help to keep you grounded and thankful for all the mundane chores associated with motherhood.
Encourage someone else. Take a few minutes everyday to encourage someone else. It will give you such a cheerful and tranquil feeling to know you inspired someone else.
